Children and YouthWhat's on in the Elim Family Church for dudes and dudettes? For the younger ones:Kingdom Kidz - this is our Junior Church. It meets from about 11am on a Sunday and is for those 13 and under. We believe it is important for families to worship together so you guys get to worship and praise God with your mum, dad or guardian if they come with you. But don't panic! Our music is lively and is led my a team ranging from 14 upwards! iGi - this is our youth LIFEgroup. It meets most Fridays and is for those who are at High School upwards. We do some crazy stuff - like ice cream eating contests, fundraising for The Gathering, and have movie nights to name a few. We also get around the Bible and chat about stuff that bothers us. But there's more! Every second Sundayof the month we plan, lead and preach at our own iGi service. It's not for whimps! We have a great time, have a Mr T Tribute, leg waxing, rap attacks and so much more. This is a service run by run people for young people and it's awesome to get together and meet with God in a fresh way. Its manic. The Gathering, River Camp, Facebook! The Gathering - Elim's national youth department are called serious4god. Each year they run "The Gathering" . 2000 young people will descend on Telford and come together from the whole country to a praise party for Jesus! We're going, so contact us for more information! River Camp - this is an amazing camp with the emphasis on soaking in God's love and generally chilling out with Jesus. It happens on August Banks Holiday. You know you want to go!. Contact us or check out their website! Facebook - we have our won Facebook presence too. Check it out by serching for iGi Youth. It has all our news and upcomng stuff on it. The Elim Family Church is your church too! It is not just for adults and you get dragged along! Our pastor believes that young people have stuff to offer to the life of the church. That's why about every 6-8 weeks iGi serves the communion. Quick thought on hearing from God from Pastor Keith: "Sometimes we think we have to be a spiritual giant before God can use us. All the spiritual giants in the Bible were once young and made mistakes. Take Samuel in the Old Testament. Now there is one powerful prophet. Kings sought his advice. The guy is awesome. He hears God so clearly. But this was not always the case - check out 1 Samuel 3:1-10 . How many times does Samuel think it is his mentor Eli calling him? Three times he gets it wrong. God does not write him off. He does not punish him. He keeps calling. Check out verse 7. Samuel did not know it was God speaking because he had never heard him speak before. But the point is he was hearing - he just did not know what he was hearing! Being a young person today is tough. There is a lot of pressure put on you by friends to do and say things to be part of the in crowd. But I am convinced God wants to speak to you. I am convinced Jesus wants to become more real to you. I am convinced the Holy Spirit wants to give you his gifts and power! All you have to say is: "Speak, your servant is listening!" |
