Building for the FutureOver the years the church has had a desire to redevelop its premises to aid our work in serving Eastbourne. In December 2005 planning permission was granted for this re-development of the church centre. Demolition of the old church took place in Decemeber 2006/ January 2007. Construction on the new centre commenced on 26th March 2007, with a completion date in June/July 2008. Check out our photo's page for a picture journal of the demolition and construction progress! The new church centre includes Basement: Parking for up to 18 cars and four motorised scooters Ground Floor: A 230 seat worship centre, a 100 seat overflow hall, kitchen, toilets and ancillary facilities. First Floor: Church offices, a day nursery, toilets, kitchen and ante-rooms. Second to Fourth Floors: Thirteen self-contained retirement flats for the over 60's, with extended care facilities to include a laundry room, a roof garden, communal room room, and an overnight guest room. The accommodation will be finished to a very high standard. Four of the flats will be two bedroom, and nine will have one double bedroom, plus lounge, kitchen, bathroom (with low access shower) and hallway. Some have balconies and one its own private roof terrace. The extent of these facilities will ensure that the residents will not have to move into sheltered accommodation should they deteriorate physically later in life. The location of the Elim Family Centre, is only a two minute walk from the vibrant shopping centre and railway station. Eastbourne's main shopping mall, the Arndale Centre, is about to commence its own redevelopment and expansion, making the town centre one of the best shopping centres on the South Coast and town centre properties most sought after. The climate in Eastbourne is excellent, enjoying the most hours on sunshine per year in the UK, and has long been a favourite of the older generation. This is an opportunity to purchase a property in an exclusive and truly Christian environment, and by doing so, you will be helping the expansion of God's work in the town. Demand for these properties is high. Initial enquires should go directly to our selling agents: FAQ's: Do I have to attend an Elim Church to purchase a flat? No! In fact you don't have to join us. There a numerous churches in Eastbourne, each with its own distinct flavour. You should be sympathetic to the aims and activities of the Elim Church though. What about noise from the services and other activities? There will be some sound travelling through the building but provision has been made within the development for adequate sound proofing so that residents are not disturbed by the churches normal activities. Can I leave my home to my family? The Elim Family Church reserve the right of having first option to repurchase the flat at market value. If the church cannot excercise its option you will be able to sell your property, or to bequeath it, as you see fit. If the property is sold to another party they also must be sympathetic to the aims and activities of the church. Who Will Manage the Centre? The church will manage the centre. An administrator will be on site during office hours five days a week, who will also be available to help in emergencies. We will also be employing a part-time caretaker for the upkeep of the communal areas. It is envisaged that a residents committee will be established to organise activities. This will comprise of two residents, one of the church's leadership team, and the centre administrator. What if I need more help as I get older? We are not offering a sheltered housing project. However, we do not want anyone to have to leave their home should they become physically frail in the future. Within the centre there will be extended care facilities which will mean that an individual care package can be worked out, as you require, with the local social services and care agencies, meaning you will not have to leave home to receive treatment. Is there an age restriction? Yes! Generally you have to be sixty or above to be considered. We will look at all cases individually though. How do I secure my new home? In the first instance contact our selling agent. The properties are secured with a £1000 reservation deposit. The balance of monies owing is payable upon completion of the building prior to occupancy.
